The Sakya Monastery, Thubten Trulpe Lha Kang Chenmo, in India

The Sakya Monastery, Thubten Trulpe Lha Kang Chenmo, will be a monastery with strong emphasis on Sutrayana teachings. The spiritual environment will emphasize purity in monastic conduct, and there will be regular confession ceremonies for the ordained to maintain and purify their Pratikamosha vows. Once this Monastery has been established, it will be the model for future Sakya Dharma centers throughout the world.

There are three main structures in the architectural plan of the Thubten Trulpe Lha Kang Chenmo, and they are: the Temple, the Institute and the Staff Housing. Their architectural drawings are shown in Figures 6 – 8. These drawings are based on concepts of traditional Tibetan monastic structures, and they were designed by the renowned Tibetan architect Mr. Dorjee Dewatshang. Upon completion of the Temple, statues of Lord Buddha, the Five Patriarch, Vajrakilaya, Hevajra, and Gurji Gonpo Mahakala will be installed.

Residence of Lama Kan Tsao Yangtsik

H.H. J.D. Sakya had a strong connection with the Chinese Lama Kan Tsao in his previous life and His Holiness now invites the reincarnation of Lama Kan Tsao to build a residence next to the Phuntsok Phondrang site. The reincarnation of Lama Kan Tsao was recognized by H.H. J.D. Sakya and is now named Padma Ösal Damchö Jigme Dorje. The Tulku has been studying with the grandson of H.H. J.D. Sakya, Ven. Avikrita Rinpoche, in India. H.H. J.D. Sakya hopes that the Tulku will continue to receive his education in the formal Tibetan Buddhist tradition, which would be beneficial to all. The Thubten Trulpe Lha Kang Chenmo therefore will be an excellent place for the Tulku to continue his education and blossom into the excellence of his predecessor
